I don't remember what I did with my paystubs, and I think I've had 4 or 5 different jobs this year. How am I supposed to do my taxes?
yep, it only raises a red flag if you report less earnings than the IRS has been notified about via the required filings from companies that paid you. if you ever get audited they have those on file.
if you get audited and it turns out you reported more than you actually earned the IRS is going to care a lot less than if it were the other way around obviously
Make over $600 and in January or February you'll get a tax thing that shows all your earnings for the year.
haha, I call it a "required filing" (couldn't for the life of me remember what the form's called) and you call it a "tax thing."
Could not tell if you were having fun or serious so I will assume serious. If you were an employee subject to witholding make sure that every place you worked has your current mailing address. They will send you a summary of all your paystubs. This is called a W-2. If you were an IC, those people who paid you more than $600 should also send you a 1099 form to your last known address. Amounts of less than $600 AND all self employement income is your responsibility to track and account for. The 1099 is just a required filing for businesses that paid more than $600 to a single entity. Failure on your part to report any of the income documented by the payor on either the W-2 or 1099 will be frowned upon greatly by the Internal Revenue Service. Don't risk it!
Dont pay taxes lol j/k By the way i think we would be much better not paying taxes and not getting services from Govt or atleast not Defense service
