Exactly, The question I'd send back to the OP is...how do you feel that the Internet could possibly go down?
Just like a virus spreads so fast. its all codes isn't it the internet and if a programmer are able to make a virus to slip through every network and kill it.
As much a disaster as the end of the earth to many people. But I guess it is not such a bad a idea if we can let the internet down for one day or two!
It won't. We all cant live without internet so someone would take action to prevent that from happening
then someone will fix is.... internet info is based on servers ! so not the whole internet can go down ! loL! unless you mean wires break but that can be repaired

I remember seeing on tv an univeristy acedemic or scientist say that he proposed in the internet would grow so big it would run of space and not have any more room to expand? It was serious and a theory that was soon laughed off by other "experts". I know for one thing just about everything relies on the internet these days business, personal, financial. You name it and it would probably be affected somehow. How many rely on the net for income and enjoyment to get thru an otherwise unbearable life Many of the current generations dont know a life without pc's and the net? It will make life difficult as well as easy at the same time. Difficult because we would not have a source through which we can search almost any information and a lot of people are making online money. Easy because we would be able to spend time somewhere else and our lives would become a little less complex.
It is certainly possible and has happened in the past with pacific ocean link getting snapped between Asia and rest of the world leaving majority of sites out of reach. It would be fun to have something like that - no emails, no chats and no PR discussions - good for health and to give rest to the mind and eyes and fingers for a while
