If paypal closed I would transfer all my money to my account, and I would change my debit card number. If you own a paypal account Right Now I would never keep a high amount of money , as they have already frozen thousands of accounts that have reached a minimum of $2000.00. Can you imagine having your account frozen and closed at 2K?

Your paypal funds are at far greater risk of having someone get your account details through phishing or spyware. You can draw interest from your money, and rest assured that paypal invests money held with them to gain a profit for themselves. You think the money just sits idly in your account? No way.

If paypal were in trouble, you would see warning signs like increased processing fees.

    We dont need it (paypal).

Paypal knows this. There are lots of other good choices out there.

I second what cool_78 and others say; do not keep too much money in
    paypal at any time.

If they fold, you will lose much less.

PayPal is not like a bank in the sense that they dont give loans so they wont (should not) get in debt plus every time you buy something they take money from seller. If paypal goes out i will be shocked.

If PayPal closes... I'd change my checking acct info as quick as possible, and hopefully the $230 I have in there wouldn't be there but if it was it'd be gone :(

My paypal account is in a constant flux; what I take in, I shell out for membership subscriptions and the like.

I always make sure that I don't have a lot of money in Paypal. Once I get the funds, I cashed it out and put it on my bank account

One time I was having a conversation with a paypal rep and she told me that ebay would go down but paypal will NEVER go down. Paypal got lots more money than ebay and will never die off.

it would suck real big time if paypal closes down. but why would they? are they in trouble now? or are we just speculating that they'd run away with our money?

I think it never be closed becuase all people have full confidence with it.
Keep a little amount of money in account, so if it is closed then you are not suffering big loss of money.

From what I understand, PayPal isn't really a back, but just a service that helps transfer money around the web from different sources.

They are partnered with a credit union GE Money, but I don't think if GE Money goes down PayPal will too as PayPal didn't use to offer credit cards before.
