What If My Main Keyword Is Grammatically Incorrect?

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by mrdigydigy, Jul 28, 2010.

Team, while doing research i found there are some keywords which are most targeted for my website but are grammatically incorrect.

eg. "Builder Gurgaon". Grammatically incorrect means, i can't write this directly into my content (I can write "builder in gurgaon", "builders in gurgaon" etc.). I used it in my title tag but i feel i should not use it in my page content because it can give bad impression to my readers if i do grammatical mistakes on website home page.

So my question is when i do back linking by article writing for this keyword "Builder Gurgaon" then do i need to write the same keyword or with similar phrases like "builder in gurgaon" & "builders in gurgaon" can help me ranking for my main keyword.

    Please suggest

Good question. I have a similar "bad grammar" keyphrase that I seriously need to take advantage of. I kind of figured out how to do it . . .

    >> Introduce the keyphrase straight on, telling readers that you've noticed many people searching for "builder Gurgaon," as you enjoy studying SEO/Internet.

    >> Write stuff like how you understand that people searching for "builder Gurgaon" are moving fast, and need quick solutions.

    >> Tell what kind of problems they're probably facing, and how you can help people looking for a builder in Gurgaon, as well as the hurried folks who're really trying to get it done FAST -- so fast they're looking for people like you by searching "builder Gurgaon."

    >> In other words, go ahead and keep using the keyphrase as I've done here . . . In fact, you'll probably get some clicks via this forum, simply because I've typed "builder Gurgaon" quite a bit to make my point.

    >> Maybe twice a month, write a different version of your fun / funny observation about the rushed people coming to your site thanks to this term. Create several articles so you own this and can attract them on *their* (search) terms.

    Good luck :)

Thanks Buddy, actually when you google "builder gurgaon" you will find all the links which have "builder in gurgaon", "Gurgaon Builders", Builders IN Gurgaon" which means they are also not using this main keyword "builder gurgaon" in content but ranking in top 10 results.

It looks like Google also give us value for keywords if we are using any stop words like "IS", "," etc. I Google with keyword "builder in gurgaon" & all top 10 results was same so it means we can use stop words if our keyword is not grammatically correct...

    please suggest...

I'm really in favor of the answer given by jewel3000.
I used more than once this kind of content, saying people sometimes do misspelling and then give some examples (=the misspelled keyword).
    It works great!

@Mrdigydigy Yes, I understand that when anybody searches for "builder Gurgaon," it will show results where publishers have typed it correctly, as "builder in Gurgaon."

However, I think YOU can become the FIRST site, at the TOP of that SERP for "builder Gurgaon" if you take ownership of the key term precisely the way so many people type it (wrong).

I think it's worth a try. Maybe you'll get the lion's share of the clicks, and all the rest of the sites will fall underneath you.

Don’t use it, especially not in your title. Correct spelling and grammar trump the keyword phrase. If you have any spelling or grammar errors in your article or title, it sends the message that the article is of lower quality and that the author didn’t care. click here for more information.

It surely works great! However, you can simlpy mention at the begining that you have seen that many people use this term as "that" and start using it like that only. OR you can simply start using it, if people are searching for that term like "that" then they are likely to understand what you mean. However, I feel the first option is the best.

If you are building lots of small one page wordpress sites or submitting articles to various directories and have links back to your main site, then it may be worth looking at. There is often a whole host of traffic who use misspellings, some common mistakes, some not. There will still be a fair bit of competition for the more common misspellings, even from high PR sites.

If you focus on them for each simple Wordpress site and then link to your main site which of course has perfect grammar then it could drive some useful traffic.

    Anyone know any different?

    Cheers,

    Andy

I think it's worth a shot, why wouldn't you at least try it? If you fail, you can chalk it up to a learning experience and if you succeed who knows what could happen.

I have a wordpress site that is based around the misspelling of a product. It is top of the rankings without any backlinking and receives 20-30 hits per day on average. It'll never make me rich but it shows that there are possibilities with this tactic.

@Andy147 -- I've read about people who "specialize" in misspelled keywords and whatnot to pull nice Google traffic. Some of them say they do quite well with these thrown-off phrases.

I know of 2 biggies in my niche, where HUGE amounts of people type the phrase with awkward usage or grammar. Feels like money in the bank, just waiting for me to exploit it. :)

I hope none of my competitors beat me to these words!!!!

builder in Gurgaon ( google used to ignore the words in, of and etc ) so that's prob why it appears veryone is searching for builder Gurgaon instead.

Rainier is correct, avoid spelling mistakes in your title and article. HOWEVER; there's a trick you can pull off for misspellings and incorrect grammar: Create external back links with the misspelled or grammatically incorrect term as the anchor text. That gives you search "juice" for those terms, while your target page still looks like a "high quality" page.
