The keyword in your url should help you out but having good quality content and quality links will help you out a lot. Post some article, press releases and get directory links. This should help you out. Good luck top rankings soon!

Agree! There're many other factors to optimize. If you're building the new site, then consider the best URL structure. But if your site is running well, its not important to make changes when you're not sure what side-effects you will face.

I agree with the last posts.

This is definately the case, however having a well structured URL IMO is still very important. I know for a fact that after URL rewriting many sites will start ranking higher in SERP. ( higher crawl rate, easier for bots to index etc )

You will also find that having a well structured URL will also improve CTR from Search engines, as searchers can see the URL they will be landing on, and not programing variables...

yeah small things matter - we are slaves of google ... and yet we don't know what exactly pleases google.

I think it helps alot more than people think. I think it is the number one attribute to get your page up high, followed by title, meta description, content and lots and lots of back links.

it should, but it will not happen in one night. Quality backlink and contents is the key.

This will give you boast but you will need to work for the keyword, I have a domain and my keyword took about month after a little push.

of course not... optimizing a website for one whole night will not ever rank on top to search engines... it takes month/s to top your targeted keywords.. if you want to rank your keywords to search engines then work for it...

If your key word position is good then your website will get more traffic and back links and there is no problem to worry.
