What if I use username, password AND e-mail address?
It happend to me more than once. What do I do then? Make another account?
When making a new one, want to be honest and say if I had once another account.

Is there (here) any way to be honest and short-memory at the same time?

That's a very funny situation. It's like forgetting everything about yourself. I was just wondering, could he make another username then report that to the mods the mods or shawn just merge the account.

Should I consider "silly" as an offense? ;-)

Well, if you want more details about how one can forget something, here it goes:
I use TreePad for managing usernames and passwords instead of remembering them. Once, I accidentaly deleted the TreePad database. In that case, because I didn't have the information in another place, I couldn't retrieve it.

I believe it's not easier even if I remember my username, but not my e-mail, isn't it? Because if I remember the username only, the password will be sent to my e-mail address which I don't remember.

How can I remember only my user name? By remembering one post I've made on that site, for instance.

Let me ask then a simpler question: what if one remembers only the username?

shit like this happens. i think shawn'll be nice enough to merge your username, but you *may* need to prove you owned the previous username.

    i'm just speculating.

The best thing to do next time is MEMORIZE your username and password or your email address. This is very important because you can retrieve other usernames and passwords through this email address. I guess you just have to exert some effort... watcha think? :D

In the olden days I assume you just wrote them down (physically, on paper), then if your computer breaks or gets hacked you'll have a backup.

I tried that. Believe me, one can forget even where he puts his agendas.

How about a system that asks you a question when remembering only the username? You know, like HotMail does.

I have a folder where I put all my important crap...

I suppose the problem with that is we're all webmasters...How hard to you think it would be to find out the name of someone's cat when you've got their personal blog in the "recent blog link".

The idea with the blog is interesting. I'll apply it in the future.

I'm trying to learn by my mistakes, as times goes by. The whole idea was not to unintentionally have another account which I forgot about and to be banned by DigitalPoint. While this seems not to happen, I'm fine. From my point of view, this topic is closed.

    Thank you all for answering.
