Hi. Im building a new music community site mainly for emerging and indie musicians. So hopefully in the near future when its launched there will be steady volumes of traffic. I don't want to annoy people with ads too much so Im just wondering if I were to put just 1 leaderboard ad on every page visited, can I still make money with adsense?...I may not get as much clicks but won't my CPM be relatively high with such a placement arrangement?
Yes its true. When you want people to stay on your site sometimes less is more. A bunch of sloppy ads all over the place turns people off. The longer they stay the better. Try using custom channels and use different placement on a few pages to see what works the best. Good luck.
You can place 3 adds on a page but if you place 1 add on page it can also help you improve adsense revenue, but remember don't place this add on bottom because from bottom add you can't get much revenue from adsense.....and also try to make custom channel.........thanks
ok thanks for your advice. And do custom channels really make that much of a difference to revenue or are they just for testing purposes?
Hi, I think this is really good advice, Before I seen this thread I had started on this idea of targeting lower competition keywords. I started with 1 site targeting a keyword worth a total of about 4000 searches a month, I have achieved rank 1 in google for this term for example (large metal hammers, metal hammers large) I have built the site with two thoughts what will my traffic do. 1. Follow the information I provide, links or bounce 2. Follow the Adsence links The high percentage of your traffic will follow option 1. so if you can find a niche that you can get paid for sending people to the content you provide but also get paid for when they click on adsense you have optimised your site for full potential earnings. I have been able to do this so this site makes £25 ($40) a month from Adsense and £30 ($37) from my content. Try look around to find an affiliate with the most support in providing content like rss feeds. Now times what you have done by 30 which is what i am doing and you have an income of £1,500 ($2,364) Plus you have 30 sites to test our different earning options to get the best money for your traffic and if you want to make more money make more sites the internet is huge and there are thousands of keywords waiting to be optimized for adsense go forth and make $$$$$
Less ads make the sites look tidy and clean. Hi zooropa, I do not get what you mean. Can you describe in details? Some of the confusing sentences: 1. if you can find a niche that you can get paid for sending people to the content you provide 2. Try look around to find an affiliate with the most support in providing content like rss feeds. Please explain. Thanks.
hi a good example is holidays most affilites will pay you for sending traffic plus will provide the abilty to display there content usins tools like a rss feed, such as the results for "holidays in spai does this help
so james i have just read you comments about having less is better.... yet you have 6 ads on your forum page . not quite what your advice was.
zoorapa I gave an advise, but yes on my forum I put 3 big 300x250 ads at the top. If you want to do the same, go for it. On my latest site I'm trying 3 234x60 adsense blocks.
Hi zoorapa, I do not understand your reply. The sentence is quite confusing. Anyway, thanks for trying to explain.
You can put one large ad box at the top.You can also add a narrow ad on the side. One small ad on the side wont make the site look spammy as long as it is small or narrow.
My opinion is that this dropped my CTR but increased the earnings per click as the most expensive ad is always shown. Well worth the effort if your traffic is decent and stable too
1 ad i the correct position is far more better than 4 ads in incorrect position . so select the focusing point of your website and then put the ad there. thanks
