Hello everyone! I've been lurking on those boards for a couple months, mainly surfing in the Adsense forum. I'm a very lazy person, like I have plenty of websites ideas but because I am a full-time student and because I don't know shit about programming, I don't have any at the moment. I'm making this post because I'm confident I have a website idea that could get me around 100,000,000 unique visitors in about 2-3 months, and I predict that at least 1% of those visitors will come back reguraly (that means 1,000,000). I know that Adsense won't make me big bucks for this website, so I was thinking of approaching big companies like Coca-cola, Nike, Apple, etc. to sell them the exclusivity of publicity on the website. Is that a good idea? Is that even possible? And if it is, is 0,01$ per unique visitors reasonable? Thanks in advance for your advices
What type of site is it? (For 100 million unique visitors in 2-3 months, it's not going to be a niche that's completely new...lol) How much money are you willing to spend to start it up? You'll have to outsource all the work you'd want done since you don't know any programming/coding languages. "I know that AdSense won't make me big bucks for this website" For 100 million viewers in 2-3 months, you sure as hell will make big bucks... Details pls, this sounds like a Cinderella Story that'll never happen
It completely depends on the sites topic, however earnings of $1-100 per 1000 uniques have been seen with adsense. Do the math I dont think your concern should be how much if can earn, it should be trying to actually achieve those extraordinary numbers. I'm be interested in your idea :0 Need any funding or help with it pm me
It's not a new niche, but it's an underexploited one, and if done correctly it could easily attract 50,000,000 to 100,000,000 unique visitors I'm going to start the project this summer when I'm done with school and I might pay a programmer to get it done for me. Yes it does sound like a Cinderella Story, but as I said, if done correctly I'm confident it will work. I have plenty of ideas on how to market the website and attract visitors, it won't be a problem, trust me. My BIG question is (and I would love to get feedback about it) : Have you ever seen or heard of someone selling the exclusivity of the publicity on his website to a big company like Nike, McDonald, etc. ?? If not, do you think they'd be interested? Thanks in advance.
No, I've never heard of anybody doing that, and no, I don't think they would be interested without seeing something up front. In order to stand a chance, you either need to have a name for yourself (ie: CEO of a large corporation or the founder of Facebook) or your website needs to already be well established or well on its way. Big corporations are not going to give you the time of day if all you have to show for yourself is an idea. Don't get ahead of yourself. Focus on building the website first, and then monetizing it.
I don't want to discourage you but as you've written at the beginning you have not even one site and you haven't tried any of your ideas yet so your enthusiasm does not seem like something to believe in All of us have thought that they have got great ideas at some point of time only to observe that this isn't true once the ideas go live.
GTAce is exactly right here -- imagine all the "spam" e-mail proposals these guys must get from people who don't have anything to show. Build it, and they will come.
Thanks to GTAace, welkin and Ikagura for your advices. You're right, I will start the project with a different goal and from a different angle, F--- the big corporations, I was stupid to think I could make them interested being a noname right now.
It will be physically impossible to achieve these numbers unless you have: 1). Tens of millions of Pounds/Dollars for marketing. 2). A site which would become a major worldwide phenomenon with massive media exposure. The million dollar pixel site achieved HUGE media exposure but according to Alex's blog the site received 38 million visitors in the 3 month time period you mention. This was a very clever idea too. I don't want to be harsh or put you down since you obviously have enthusiasm for this but from my professional experience and opinion, 50-100 million won't happen. You need to do some research and get realistic figures because if you grossly overestimate the visitor numbers you will come across as naive when finding funding and sponsorship.
Go for one million, minimum, in about six months. THAT they will believe, since many sites have already done it. And then use the income from advertisers to work up from there.
Hope it works for you if you do it. Must admit though, the traffic that you think you may get is rather a rather larger volume for a new website. A large amount of sites get nowhere near that, infact I would say that most probably less than 1% of all online sites get that. Good luck.
