If google starts a payment processing to compete with paypal. Is it possible for google to beat paypal?

That'd be crazy. What if they name it something stupid like Google Checkout or something?!

I think Google Own Paypal and they will not compete against its own firm.
Google own ebay and they started Paypal to get there payment merchant to no one slot through ebay's help.

I don't think it would spell doom for Paypal. I'm sure you'd never see Ebay allowing Google Checkout. If Amazon suddenly started using Google Checkout as a payment option then I could see a definite rift forming.

Who knows, maybe it's the next big thing? Most people still don't seem to know what Google Checkout is.

If they really wanna start their own,
I doubt they will name it Google Checkout.
    No way.

Google already has it's own payment processor Google checkout, but I got to admit they could have come up with a better name.

No Google Does not own Ebay or Paypal.... if that were true then Ebay wouldn't have had a temp ban to not allow Google checkout on Ebay or is it still banned??

And how the heck are Paypal fees alot??? I do believe it's the cheapest in the industry.

paypal fees are not the cheapest in the industry. you should think about moneybookers 1% fee limit $0.70
    Paypal doesn't have a limit.

Liberty Reserve doesn't have fees till sep. 30th. then its 1% limited at 0.50 i think it was.

Paypal runner-up is moneybookers. The problem is with moneybookers not as many sites accept it like paypal.

Once my site is done I will be using moneybookers a lot more.

If they did, I would certainly use it. My experience with paypal has been, well, unsatisfying to say the least. I'd be willing to try out something new.

Yes, that's quite true. In fact, Google and eBay are complete enemies... if you want to put it that way. Yes, google has announced that it will be releasing something widely identical to paypal BUT they didn't, of course, come right out and say "We're going to beat the crap outta paypal!". Though, that would make for an interesting comeback to eBay's banning google checkout, if the rumor is true.

What country are you in? I think Paypal is slowly evolving and opening doors for third world countries to transact Paypal payments but we've yet to see when it will happen.

I think if Googlecheckout becomes available worldwide they will definitely beat PayPal as Google beat EVERYTHING in the past and also will in the future.

    only my opinion of course
