What if Google goes into liquidation?

Do I got have your undivided attention!

Imagine this - a world without Google. What would we all do. Now I'm sure somewhere along the line somebody has asked a similar question but could you really imagine that one day for whatever reason Google shut down its operation and domination of worldwide search!

The little green bar we all know as pagerank disappeared and their massive cache of indexed pages all gone with it.

With the loss of Google I would see this as worldwide catastrophe in the sense that so many businesses that are dependent on Google would go bankrupt.

Does your business depend purely on Google? What would you do if this was to happen?

    No problem...
everyone would start using Yahoo and MSN again and webmasters will be focussing back on those SE's instead :D

Wish to see that some day.

When I was buying text links they let me buy.

And when I got some PR and want to sell links, they don't want that.

    They just f**ked me bad...

So, I wish I live long enough to see BIG BROTHER learn some lessons.

Yep agree :p Plus, we wouldn't have to target as many SEs either.

I do feel that they will in the next ten years start losing market share not to Yahoo or MSN but to social sites. Their are many social shopping sites out their right now that are taking a piece of the ecommerce search.

I don't ever believe they will close the doors but I do think within the next ten years people especially ecommerce sites will have to become involved more in the social arena.

No, my business does not depend on Google. As I just posted in another thread, it would be stupid for your whole business to rely on Google.

Yep, Google does have certain effects on people not to mention what type of effects it can have on a business!

Many companies rely solely on Google for their revenue - free traffic to drive sales.

When their serps drop so does their revenue...

Wow do I agree with you on that! The fact of the matter is that MSN made a bold statement last year that they will take over the internet and I believe them!

Yahoo had the rank system and it failed but don't think that they aren't working on another!!

We will see but Google will not last foever!!

    That's my opinion anyways!!

I think those people which invested into google would commit suicide. And the others would go to YPN and MSN :)

If google would go bankrupt,a lot of other web companies would go bankrupt too because a lot of them depend on google.

I think if a business is solely based on Google, that entrepreneur is an idiot. Sounds harsh, but it's true.

If the entrepreneur diversifies business into other search engines, he or she won't feel any difference after Google is gone. Yahoo and MSN will easy fulfill the need of Internet search. It will be a great opportunity for them.
