What If Google Decides To Ban All Blogs Working on Wordpress

Well, my title of the post does clarify what I meant to ask? Also add, What if Google chooses to prioritize only Blogger blogs?

I would love if you can post your ideas and opinions about my question. I had this doubt in general and wanted to see what some of the experts in SEO and webmastering lurking around DP can provide solutions?

I suppose if someone had attended the recent conference organized by Google in Bangalore, India they would have surely thought about this concern.

Please feel free and share your thoughts.Positive r negative. Let it help us all.

    never gonna happen
if google decided to give priority to webmasters using their services they will lose the users, people expect to get better search results from google if they can't get it they will abandon google and go to other search engines, and google will lose everything

    Google is smarter than that

Google's Slogan is Dont Be Evil, So they wouldent. Pluss everyone knows Wordpress is better than Blogger, so all tech savy users will move elsewhere.

If they where to do this, theid of done it with
email - Hotmail is first not Gmail
News - BBC is first not Google News
Website Statistics - Statcounter is first not Google Analystics
    ext...

I atttented the search camp at chennai and talked to Adam Lasnik. I don think he have given any hint on it and what ever they are trying is to improve the search results quality. Usage of some plaugins can harm your site..

I don't think Google will ban free blogs under wordpress or blogger. However, both importants seems diluted for a few months back. Some pages of blogger that used to rank well in some competitive keywords are gone. If the blogger/wordpress (subdomain) blog need to rank then they have to put much more link/content than before. In my opinion, Google done this because of many spammer misused the important score of blogger/wordpress by summons a thousands of spam/MFA blogs that useless for people. Some of these useless blogs even ranked well just because they are under blogger/wordpress and gained some strength from main domain. This gave inaccurate results for people and that's why Google has to eliminate them by dilute its important.

Google first and foremost is a super business. They have taken over the search market by doing smart business moves. They do not do things that would harm their overall business. there is no advantage for them to do such a thing as you proposed. The disadvantages of being portrayed as bias and pissing off millions of webmaster is enough to stop that from every happening.

I don't ever see Google doing this. As others have stated, Google gets all its traffic for providing some of the best search results. If those results get skewed, then people will abandon Google and use other search engines. Google knows this, and so I don't see this ever happening.

That would not happen :) and if it does, life goes on. There are more blogging platform besides WP that would be helpful to everyone.

It will never happen. Google would get a very large bill for monopolizing and unfair competition.

Google is very fair and doesn't give its own websites a unfair advantage, so I can't see this happening, although if this did happen, I could see a few people moving over to blogger and the rest going to other companies and google would just fail in the end of it all.

That's true...I don't see any reason why would Google prefer to put blogger blogs ahead of wordpress blogs. It's like suicidal for their core business.

I totally agree with you! Google is a company offering quality services. They do not rule the internet, they do rule in services in some fields. Google will never do anything to lose their publishers, because in that case it will loose a major chunk of its profits.:)
