What I Learned from Running On FB for 6 Months

Hey, so I started running on Facebook in January, and here are some of the results
    Total Cost: $29k
    Total Revenue: $40k

So as you can see I had some success, though my results are only getting better with time as I learn how to optimize. Here are a couple of things I learned!

    1. Images VS Videos
I did advertising on TikTok for years, so I am very familiar with how video ads work, and how to make them work the best. One thing I found weird on FB is just how effective images can be at advertising. On TT they were really bad and not worth using, but on FB they seem like a viable alternative!

I still found that videos with a more UGC style worked best, its probably what people are used to, but making image ads is a lot easier and cheaper, so I recommend you try both and test them out enough to make sure they work or don't for your niche.

    2. Placements
For my work, placements made the biggest difference. I started off by allowing everything and anything, but I quickly realized that Facebook doesn't really pick them the right way in my case, and I often got to placements that are just straight-up bad.

To find the right ones for me I launched a couple of test campaigns, put a low budget of 5-10$ day, and let them run for a few days. Even with such a small budget, FB is really good at finding what works. Then I used that data to adjust my placements and re-launch accordingly. Its recommended to keep one low-spending campaign targeting the placements you don't think are working the best, just in case something changes.

    3. Automated Facebook Crap
Advatage+ and other BS did not work for me at all. It all resulted in worse results, less ROI and more headaches. The only good thing about it was that it was super easy to set up. I recommend you go the classic manual route, it will get you better results, especially if you give it time and optimize properly.

    4. Time
Something that TikTok showed me is that an ad has to work right away, or it will never work at all. This is not the case on FB and it took a while for me to adjust. Almost everything I launched failed on the first day, it took my ads 2-3 days to find the right audience. eI found that for me the best tactic for testing new placements and goes was to launch 5$ day camps, let them run for a few days, and if it works after that, then I would launch bigger budget ones and wait as well.

Facebook actually optimizes stuff unlike TT, so your performance might get better after a while (which is never the case on TT)

    5. Creatives
Creatives that worked the best for me on TT also worked the best on FB. It could be since my best placements were stories and reels, so they had a similar audience. But i would say that a good creative with a solid hook and good CTA is all you need. Make it around 10ish seconds long and you will see good results i promise!
