I believe google page rank is a system to get a higher rank in googles' eyes, but that will partially increase your clicks as people look for content , but not ads to click around.
The only reasonable thing with good PR is that you can write a lot of review post, like say http://www.sponsoredreviews.com

Good post for newbies. Just a quick note for you, dont mind it. Please improve your english if possible, it will not only help you in making more sensible post but will help your blog in a great way. Spelling mistakes can easily take away a few visitors who could be your regular loyal visitors.

Very true, don't mislead people. PageRank is nothing but a entertainment tool for most of you, and a measure of link popularity to many others. The traffic and pagerank are two different things. Could you determine traffic of a blog based on PR?

Lets take an example of a fellow money maker, johnchow.com has PR4 (ok, penalized, but still PR4) and lets take doshdosh.com as example, PR6..who do you think has more traffic?

I am certainly of the opinion that content is king. Detailed blog posts, preferably every day. Not forgetting some good use of keywords of course.

The motivation to keep it up is a big issue. I think I had 12-15 blogs at one point, but it can soon prove tiresom to keep adding content. You summerise that nicely in your post.

I'm a 8 months newbie and I'm now making about 60$ per month with adsense that I publish every day.

I think one shouldn't forget that there isn't one single approach as it depends on your person's profile. Of course I agree that you should concentrate on you what you master but when you start you have no clear idea if the niche you choose is good or not or if you can compete in this niche.

So what I did is to play the probability game: I made a lot of posts in different niches with rather low quality to experiment with the real process because when you just read books you don't get the little tiny details that may count.

I also advise not to begin with one's own blog but join a platform like hubpages as they do the SEO stuff for you. Of course you lose about 40% of impression but it's better than have 100% of nothing.
