You might also want to check out Servint for the VPS packages. I pay $50/month and have not had any problems. And when I screw something up and need help fixing it, I always have it resolved with their tech support within an hour. I run 3 sites on one VPS there (one with 5k visitors/day) and have plenty of bandwidth and speed is awesome!

If I wasn't going to recommend my own, TravSolutions.com, I would recommend Hostgator.com. I've used them before and they seemed pretty good for the relatively short period I was with them.

Why are you saying godaddy is terrible. I have been with the company now for about 1.5 years and I have always had excellent service with them. The employees speak English very well and always! Your allocated bandwidth is great, and the server storage is also great. We get 25 sql databases when and can have unlimited domain name hosted on that server. What else... oh yes and we have lots of e-mails, users accounts, and whatever else I'm missing.

P.S did I even mention the price :) I pay like 8 USD per month.

Please explain in more detailed what you don't like and this will also allow the recommendations to be more specific as well.

    Best of luck

I will explain everything with GoDaddy:

First I had a shared hosting plan. Terrible. Many times my site was unreachable and they didn't admit. Until once, it was down half a day and they admitted it.

Then I bought VDS. They sold it with 256 RAM which is crap. I have 1500 visitors /day . When 3 bots come to site and there are other 5 users, my site is almost dead. I asked them to let me upgrade. Not possible. Have to buy another one, reconfigure and then ask for a refund.

Their support is the worst I ever seen. They answer in English, yes, but always like robots, asking for apologies, never provide solutions. Never. And they lie all the time.

    So GoDaddy it's ... I don't have words for them ...

    I use two hosting companies.
One of them is hostgator and they really pissed me off at one time by shutting down my account and with it all my sites. No warnings, no nothing in advance. Then I decide to get one more.

I've been using HE.net for hosting all of my sites or clients sites. Great service, customer friendly since 1997.

1800 won't fully utilize a dedicated server. If you expect VERY fast growth, go dedicated, as server moves tends to be annoying.

HostGator is truly the best host out there no exceptions, get it! I dont know what VPS is its just the same as shared hosting isnt it? But there dedicated hosting is sweet to.

Truth777, you probably disobeyed the TOS! Read it again, maybe you put a proxy on there shared plan?

Excellent experience with both Kualo and Lunarpages.

    Neutral about 1&1.

    Very bad experience with AIT.

HostGator is just a reseller of The planet and is more expensive.

Everyone is a reseller to someone in the reseller world if you look at it a certain way. So for The Planet they're resellers of verio, internap and their other bandwidth providers.

But I was talking about shared services which is what hostgator primarily does. If someone is looking at dedicated I wouldn't even touch The Planet even I'd look at another provider.
