What host do you use? Mine is terrible

I use Netfirms, and I would advise my fellow DP users not to use their host.
I just started a forum, and I experience problems when there are just 4 users on at the same time. I get so many different server error messages it's very frustrating. I am looking to switch hosts as soon as my revenue goes up and get the best host I can get.

So I would like to know what is your forum/website and what host do you use. And what rating would you give it.

Well, all hosts do one thing well; send that invoice to you on time.

What do they say is the reason for your problems?

They gave me BS when I asked them why it was slow. I ran a reverse IP check, found that there are over 1000 websites hosted on the same server.

Thanks Richie, what do you think about FDC VPS prices?

I want to use my site's revenue to pay for hosting, but im still not up to the $1 a day mark.
Also, isn't VPS like a dedicated, Im not sure if I would be able to manage a linux server, like add cpanel and ftp and stuff.

if you don't have any experience with Linux, do not try VPS or server, unless you can afford fully managed one. You will get trouble if you are not familiar with server management

How about your current usage? I am not sure why there are only 4 people online, that makes you trouble. I know Netfirms can oversell, but it should handle that. Do you have exact error messages?

Try hostgator. I did not actually used this but my friend told me that he is satisfied with the services of this hosting company.

I am looking for the BEST host I can get. Because I am tired of the slow speeds when just 3 members are on, I can't even imagine what would happen if 10 or 20 people are on at the same time. Netfirms would probably explode :) Anyway, what does this forum use as a host, and what does everyone else use?

That's very misleading though because it is just on one IP of the server. So there could be hundreds of other IP's with 1000 sites each for all you know. Also it's domains on the IP which means some other user could have parked 800 domains on their account and it would be considered 800 actual websites.

The Planet provides dedicated servers only, and I doubt the OP needs a full server
