What helps you get more indexed pages?

I'm trying to get more indexed pages on all my sites - and I think my current method isn't working:

-get backlinks, people linking to certain pages.
    -Having lots of content
    -A lot of backlinks.

Am I doing this right or is there another way to do it?

Having a well organized site that follows some logical internal linking. Some say site maps help. Personally I find that having high PR internal pages, is just as, if not more important than having high PR on the main page. The higher the PR on each internal page, the deeper the crawl, and the larger the number of indexed sites.

Thanks for the tips man! :)
So should I focus on building up my PR, then worry about indexed pages?

There is no substitute for keyword-specific and topic-specific REAL content. No bots. No automation. Just real research and real attention to what your target market wants to read. It's a good thing that real text is getting cheaper and cheaper nowadays.

I'm saying think of your site like a family tree, or an outline for a research paper..

    Index ----> page1 -----> page2 -----> page3 -----> Index

Link every page back to the index, and every page to each other. The higher your PR is on each of those pages/subpages, the deeper the SE will crawl into the site.

IMHO usually article directory, directories, and forums in general gets it's page indexed faster than any other form of site.

Ok, but are we talking about getting a page indexed, per say, or "getting more pages indexed" like the thread topic metions? I took the original question to mean, I have some pages indexed, but.... I'd kinda like to get more of the site indexed.

    OK ive gotta say,

Time and PR, nothing else matters...

However, with a PR4 site you can expect all your pages to be indexed within a month, so if you aim for that you should get your whole site indexed...

I second this. I know this from personal experiance.

I setup two identical type of sites at the same time. One with a link on a PR5 website and another without any kind of backlinks to it. The PR5 linked one content started to be listed in google with in two weeks. The one without the backlink still has no index pages in google.

    Content, content, still content.
Every day add some content to your website.

    Mia is right.

A carefully constructed internal linking scheme will result in your pages being crawled and indexed faster AND you get the additional benefit of boosting the PR of all of your pages.

Articles, link-bait, recips, compeling content are just as important but without a good internal link architecture you will be wasting the value of your IBLs.

I have a question reguarding this. I have setup my website like this...
    index.php
    page1.php
    page2.php
    page3.php

now...my index.php starts with an include "header.php" that contains links to index.php, page1.php, page2.php and page3.php aswell as my title image, then I have my content for the index page, and then it does another include "footer.php", which contains the usual stuff in the footer section.

page1.php calls the same header, then has it's content, then calls the same footer.

page2.php and page3.php do the exact same thing.

is this a good way to do it for google to index my site, or should I do the repetative task of putting the header and footer code on every single webpage and not do an include at all?

And since I am making a post...Could someone tell me where my signature section is in the User CP? I can't seem to find it for some reason.

Sure. This is exactly what many do. Using includes for the header/footer will greatly simplify in making mass site wide changes/additions in the future. That is exactly the way to go.

The signature section is in the control panel at the left. I believe it says "signatgure"... However, some forums disallow a signature until you have reached a certain amount of posts, so you may not be seeing it for that reason.
