What has made the biggest difference to your internet career? Meeting someone? Hearing something? Why is it so significant? For me it was when I went to an Internet marketing conference and listened to a dozen or so speakers. All of a sudden I started to see the vast possibilities I had never even dreamed about. I knew then I could do it!
Mine... being first. I started my first search engine before yahoo was started at stanford, which paid off big time when I sold it.
The moment I made my first $ online. I had been playing round with a few different methods here and there and implemented a few but never stuck to just one. Then one day checked my clickbank stats and had 1 random sale in there. That's when I realised you can make money in this game and since then put my head down and just worked and worked and have made a very comfortable living from it.
To be honest, I've yet to gain anything really important from anyone else. Almost everyone seems to be really far behind me. My own passion and gumption has served me well.
For me its been a few things... Meeting some really great people from around the world, helping others succeed in their businesses, and of course when I made my first $ online as well .
definitely when I stopped reading and taking action you could learn so much by doing instead of reading
It's probably a combination of two things. First, a lot happened when I discovered the books by Seth Godin. Not just one of the books, but all of them. I read five of them in just a few days. They really helped open my eyes to marketing. Then, it was discovering that action and simplicity is what it's all about (and the awesome blog and books by Leo Babauta.
In my case its two things: 1.When I understood that I need a day job first in order to learn how to do online marketing the right way. 2. stop talking/reading and take action.
I'd say you have to throw a lot of "sh!t" against the wall until something sticks.. But every crappy website or crappy business you put together is a learning experience. Selling my first ecommerce store for some big bucks was a big deal... Getting into forbes magazine for another one of my websites was a big deal as well... Both look good in the portfolio
For me it was stumbling onto teachings by Neville Goddard. I learned how to use my imagination to attract what I want, write clear objectives and be successful. It's been truly life-changing...
For me I started my first freelance job on earth -- Design and Multimedia Assistant and up to now I am doing it together with some other freelance job and all are in an hourly rate of which I earn $70-$80 per week. And I think this is good earning so far taking into consideration that I am still a student and eager to learn more.
The moment when I got my first clickbank cheque. That is the time that I turn seriously to make money online...
