Most bloggers these days are just on the lookout to make some cash, which ok fair enough, if they want to then its their choice, but surely people are missing the importance of traditional blogging? Being yourself, writing about what you really love, if you are writing to make money, then i'm sure the topic you have chosen is something that you don't really have a huge interest in. Does anyone agree with me.. or??
Blogging isn't dead. We sure get to see a tendency people have to write trash blogs for a quick buck, but that kind of blog is quickly seen and recognized. There are still blogfulls of genuine writing though, hiding away at LJ and Blogspot, to be randomly discovered. The real deal bloggers are rarely seen at SEO boards.
Definitely agree. Blogging reached its saturation point. Now you've got to wade through hordes of pointless blogs to find any form of content.
Blogging isn't what it's all cracked up to be. It really is fun and good for some people, but many people work on blogs for months and don't see results so they give up. You CANNOT do this, as it's such a huge waste of your time. If you decide to blog and really want to make money blogging, just stick to it and don't give up. Even if you go 1 1/2 years without profit, it will eventually come if you're writing good content and marketing even a little bit.
I agree. I was discussing the decline of truly interesting blogs with a friend last week. It seems within the sites and forums i frequent that there has been more of a swing toward the make-money-online blogs. Also I've noticed that it seems as if the majority of blogs popping up are from bloggers who are either just getting started, or creating blogs, and not following up. The latter is unfortunate because I'd love to find new sites with good content.
I was just thinkg if I can search avoiding "keywords" like money online and debt and try searching the the categories of news, books, humour etc., probably the chance of finding a real blog will be higher !
To you point, "if you are writing to make money, then i'm sure the topic you have chosen is something that you don't really have a huge interest in" One person out to make money can make 1000's of blogs quickly (and I am aware of people who have done this). There are also "automated original content generators" that rewrite other people's content, which are of poor quality and make some blogs almost unreadable. Clearly people with 1000s of blogs are not interested in every topic they blog about, but, over time, the quality sites will sift through. We are blessed with many quality blog sites, but they can often be hard to find. -Mikid
Hey! I still blog only to help others make money online and run a website/community - I have no ads on the blog and only have the occasional affiliate link. Also, there are a lot of 'mom and pops' out there that still just 'blog' .. those blogs suck, but they're still out there.
I don't think rewriting other people's content is a necessarily a bad thing. Because my definition of 'rewriting' is EXTRACTING the knowledge or information in an individual's blog and rewriting with your own unique opinion. By doing so, i seriously doubt that any blogger will be angry. Matter fact, i trust that he/she will be appreciative that another blogger has an opinion on the similar topic. I think that is what true blogging is all about, OPINIONATED writing. Anyways, cheers to all bloggers' out there .
I don't see anything wrong with making money from blogging. If one will say that "real blogging" is sharing, then anyone who is sharing something is still blogging. If one is writing just to make money, then it will be his disadvantage and not his readers. There's also a difference between doing what you love and loving what you do.
Money corrupts everything. But Can not complain much when one is in a forum full of people eager to make money
I agree...I still see well-written blogs that have opinions and original content, but I feel that I've seen an increase in blogs that have no unique content and thought as well as grammatical and punctuational mistakes. Or they have many posts that are way off topic. I'm only speaking to those who put little thought into their blogs rather than the bloggers who care about content regardless if they're writing to make money or as a hobby. For internetmarketingiq questioning what is "real blogging," to me, blogging started out more like an online diary where people share their thoughts, ideas, news, and opinions - whatever was on their minds, and that is real blogging. If other bloggers construct their sites differently than having these types of blogs to make money, fine - it's great that they're earning a living. I think it's just different than traditional blogging. Furthermore, I'd like to add that blogs are different than news articles and should be taken with a "grain of salt." It seems to me like more people are reading blogs as facts and forgetting that a majority of these writers are not journalists seeking to be objective. Blogs are fun and great to read, but I feel more readers need to remember the difference between blogs and news articles. Anyway, I wanted to share this thought as well. You brought up a great topic!
I my self once blog just for blogging it self but i can not cope with it. My motivation decrease after a year. And after i know how to make money from blog, i strated to motivate again. I do not know other, but it seems liking can not keep me blogging.
Until a few months ago I didn't really know what bloging was. I start a blog with Wordpress and didn't know what to do so I went to the Library and signed out books on bloging and on Wordpress. I still new at bloging, but i'm researching and learning. Thanks to all the help everyone have given.
For me blogging is about your passion in writing. You want to share something with people around you. Blogging is happy and relax. I don't think it is saturated but many have put crappy content in their blogs.
