10 years seems like a lot. Cuil was close. And with a year of work, they could throw a challenge.

Cuil may be technically close but they are a million miles away from competing with Google for the man on the street. Your still thinking about it from a techie 'in the know' viewpoint, my sister has never heard of Cuil, and probably never will, when she wants to search for something she goes to Google and finds it... and that's my point, changing this habit and built-in natural action is going to be impossible for anyone else to achieve for many many years.

Maybe there is a quick conclusion about the next web search engines, but still something is wrong with Google service.

Still Google...Am at lost if CNN doesn't exists. I mean its a worldwide news agency thats the main reason why current news are always updated. Same with our queries with everyday news. As of now, nothing replaces Google.

    ROFL....

It may take some more disgruntled employees or partners to form another "Google" to compete

Google is in the english dictionary. It's recognised worldwide.

The only time when the market can compete again for Top Search engine; is when and only when google closes, crashes, burns and the owners/coders die...

All of those will never happen therefore google will always be on top. While you sit there and think about starting a seach engine or others that could challenge it Google would have earned hundreds in of £/$ in seconds...

    No death = No challenge.

Google will always survive unfortunatly...

    Regards.

Google is THE search company. Google has changed everything about how we find information. Hat will always be off to Google but I also like Yahoo so I hope they will both be around together for a long time to come.

It's no longer a search engine but a brand in itself. There is so much software it produces that in reality it has become a software company like microsoft, but better. Can't wait for the next generation of search engine that will enable users to search and rank sites as they surf

They have trouble with how to spend their money, i don't think they are interested in making more than they are making now.

Google works great and shows accurate results, unless you lost your pagerank recently or unhappy with adsense earnings. The problem is most likely you.
