My site is currently experiencing some minor difficulties and has been taken down by my hosting company due it straining the resources on a shared hosting plan. This has affected my site in the following way in that it is down for long hours. It has been down for about 6 hrs today. I will get new hosting tomorrow during the day, but have to give up a night with no traffic, no earnings and no Google or Google Adsense spiders on my site. What happens to my site if I can't get hosting to fix the problem? What happens if it is down for more than 48 hrs? Will it drop out of the Search Engine Maze which I have slowly started to dominate?
Google keeps pages indexed for a long time so I wouldn't worry too much over a short downtime. The affect on ranking depends on the size of your site and competitors. If you have a HUGE site that is updated every day with loads of visitors and a tough (similar) competitor then you might slip below them slightly. If your site is medium to small then don't worry. Just try to get back online asap.
Dont worry man,it wont affect much if your site will down for some time.as u ask if your site will down for 2 days there may be some loss in SERP but it will be back after some days.just try to make it live asap.
PR is not affected......PR is attached to the domain and once your incoming links are still in place your PR will not change.....haven't you seen sites with no content that still have PR?.....I would expect someone who has been on the forum that much to at least learn that....
I think that you had better sort out the internal reasons why your site is overloading the server, Even with a new host, even with dedicated hosting, if the coding of the site has a flaw which results in excessive server resource usage, your down time might well continue If spiders are continously unable to spider your site, it will probably fall down the pecking order, slowly, I've seen it before
i don't think this will affect too much at all - a question you should be asking is what happens when it is PR time and google goes round - scary! .
I just transfer my domain name to other registrar. The process is pending. I wonder that there will be a downtime for transfer or not. Can the new registrar setup the dns for my site or I have to do it by myself. If I missed to setup dns. How it will effect my rank and pr. grrrrrrrrrr the pr update is very close.
Dont worry, take your time. The PR will not be affected by this. You will normally have to set up your name server, the registrars dont do that for you.
If google comes along while your site is down they are going to have problems indexing right ?? If your site is down all day I'd change host for damn sure, then build back links to make up for your missed indexed pages. If it just happens once, I'm sure you'll be okay. If it's happening once a day, you might have some issues
If it's down longer than a week, then you should worry. Other than that, a couple days won't hurt unless you don't have a lot of incoming links. As long as your incoming links and backlinks stay the same and aren't removed from the websites that are linking to you, then you shouldn't worry. You'll be fine.
if googlebot visits your site, your serp will be effect from this but if you keep your backlinks , serp will come back in short time
I got a similar case before. my site script got a problem and i had to shut the site down for 1 month.(put under construction page as index.) what happened was my serps was dropped a lots (from top 10-20 in some keywords) to nowhere in search results. I did put everything back to works again and build more back links. 1 month later my site climb back to the place it was before or even better in some keywords due to more back links and more content. so your site might be the same case if you drop it for a long time.
