Hi all, I've been running my stuff with amazon for about 6 months now, things are going well, my profits have doubled every month and November has been even better. November is clearly doing better because of Christmas and I'm sure December will be good too. So this being my first Christmas with Amazon, my question is what kind of increase do you normally see and how far does it drop after Christmas.
I've only sold through one Christmas (08) so far. Nov 08 - $62.6 Dec 08 - $114.93 Jan 09 - $169.16 Feb 09 - $244 It's a 40% increase in January from December. I certainly hope that this year it's going to be that same increment because my current earnings in Nov 09 is $732.
That can't be right, surely Christmas is much better than Jan and Feb. Are you sure that's not the payments you received, as in Nov payment comes in Jan and Dec payment comes in Feb. Otherwise it must just be a case of your astore/blogs or whatever just happened to rapidly increase for search rankings in Jan and Feb. I've earned over $900s so far this November, I'm expecting it to drop to maybe $400s or probably less in Jan/Feb. But like I say this is my first Christmas and I wasn't doing it long enough before to know what my average earnings are in a month when it's not Christmas. Anyone else care to share some info, don't need to know niches, or even figures... just percentages will do.
I try to manipulate holidays in general, not just Christmas. Think about it. Feb. has Valentines Day, then St. Patricks Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day.... See where I'm going with this? It is ALL I focus on, and have written volumes on how to do it.
Some items are really seasonal, but from the sounds of it yours doesn't seem to be. Try checking: Google's trends and insights. http://www.google.com/trends http://www.google.com/insights/search/#
I think it depend on your niche.. for simple, people will not buy ice cream in snowy weather and will not buy a jacket in summer.. but believe me, keep what you have done to get your profit and it will repeat.. good luck
Agreed with the other poster about Google trends - give it a search and you will see a huge drop. I'd bet you'll see your sales drop by half, that's my experience at least.
Ohh yeah Christmas is just the beginning. You have to remember that people often receive money as gifts.. And I would recommend more popular items over seasonal, because once you earn you keep on earning long after you've moved to other better things...
