I'm sure you all know of John Chow, makes about 500k a year at least with his how to make money online blog and all he posts on it is ramblings and what he had for lunch. I was reading a little bit about his earlier ventures and apparently his tech site thetechzone.com is one of them. From what I have read this site is/was making 200k a month which he stated in an interview somewhere and he employs people to do all the work on it. I checked it out and there hasn't been a single post on it since 2012. I also did a site search in Google to see how many pages are indexed - only about 200. Whats the deal with this site is it an overhyped failure? If it was making money surely he would keep his staff working on it?
When did he give that interview? It could also be dated back to a couple years ago. He prolly has to joggle 200 projects he's forgotten he had that blog. But ultimately, who cares. He's obviously a successful dude worth imitating (in some ways).
I can't remember I was reading around about him and stumbled on all sorts of things. It is likely one from a few years back. From what I gather he doesn't manage many projects. Just his blog which he does himself personally 2 hours a day, his tech site is run by staff if it still is running and he has another media type company. From what I also came across his blog doesn't make anywhere near as much as his 'main site' which ever one that is - probably the tech one if this was a few years ago. The reason I ask is because I am trying to learn from how he started - find what works etc I just find it bizarre that the tech site seemed to have stopped so suddenly in 2012 after it was running since 1998. Only 200 pages are indexed in Google for it right now. He did have bother with Google a while ago so maybe that is why he stopped it? Google basically de indexed all his pages?
