    What happened to Directorydream.com?

Wasn't it once a nice PR6 paid directory? It seems it's down for long. Any idea who's the owner of it?

    :(

    Hey guys,

Directorydream is coming back online in about a week.
I asked bluehost to close the account where I was hosting it, and move it to my other account. They closed the account without moving it, and I have spent about a month probably talking to every single support person there. At the end they could not provide me with the backup, so I have been rebuilding everything manually.

I didn't have recent database backup because they do have up to two weeks old backups, but somehow this was deleted as well

I have lost tons of modifications I have done over the past few months as well. I know it is partially my fault tool, so now I have a new host that does off site backups every single day :(

Sorry to hear that. This is why I stay away from big hosting companies.

Seems fear had the same issue on qoobe.org a few weeks back which I helped him fix. PM me if you need a hand.

Pleased you are on your way to getting things running again, sorry to hear of your problem though, i recently had a minor issue with one of the hosts, something went wrong and they worked to get things back for the affected customers but backups were up to around 2 days not up to date if that makes sense.

Fortunately i had my own backups and was able to sort that out myself, made me glad that i backup daily, and proved that sometimes you really do need them handy.

Bluehost was very good when I got my first account with them. They were much smaller back then, and I could really see how their support deteriorated with growth.

I was actually closing two of my accounts with them since I got a dedicated server with daily off site backups, and that is when everything happened.

As soon as I restore the site it will be moved to my server. They do have a backup, but it was deleted with account. Why, I cannot understand.

I do have a database but it is not very new. So I have a lot of work ahead of me

Lesson Learned : Will take the backup of everything including files & databases manually before moving any site from one host to another.

Thanks velocity, for letting us the know the real story, its really sad & unprofessional approach from such a reputed hosting company. I will avoid that reputed company in future, for sure.

Hope you'll manage everything soon. Our best wishes are with you. :)
