I observe a steady decline in CTR and cost per click for all my campaigns regardless of the same conditions. Has the Google gotten worse? This decline in income really annoyes me.

I've actually been moving up in all catagories for the past week or so. I'm sure your situation is only temporary. :)

I'm in the same boat. The amount of traffic and ctr has stayed realitively the same, while the payouts have become less...

if you have been following any of my past posts to other headings this month here, then you know I have noticed the same exact thing. Since Sep 1 my traffic, impressions and clicks have increased, but my eCPM and my earnings per click on all sites have plummeted. I now average over 60 clicks a day, and am lucky to make $5.00. No matter how much more content I add or new sites, it seems the eCPM or click values just drop and drop, it used to be 3 cent clicks, now 1 cents are common.

Yes, I am very saddened with adsense anymore. If I am accepted into YPC, yes I will join for sure, who wouldn't with my adsense stats.
Is it like everyone says a passing thing - wait, it will get better, or I hear my fluctuates too - will it's been getting worse for me since Sep 1 and today is Sep 24, it's still as bad or worse....

The Yahoo program is not launching until the end of the year, all they are accepting yet are the 2000 beta members, Ive applied a few months back but as of yet never heard from them.

I get 80% of my search engine traffic from MSN, 15% from yahoo and the rest from Ask Jeeves then Googles 1 to 3 %,
since I was sandboxed at the end of May, and am still sandboxed, How long does that sandbox last ? if theres really a guy here from adsense or google who knows the answers, I am crying out , 'HELP !! 'What's the solutions....'

I have noticed my numbers being increased slightly this month. I find the most hazardous thing to my income is the targeting ability of Google. The better they target to my actual content focus, the better I do.

It always fluctuates... just depends on the industry and what AdWords advertisers are bidding on stuff. I can be down, then up 100% vs. the previous month. For September, I'm up compared to August so far.

Compared to August, I'm seeing many low paying clicks, but also some that pay much much better than what I've ever seen before (multiple dollars).

It's like it's always the extreme, never some middle value like it used to be. In the end I'm better off.

You should work on SEO For Google. If 80% of your traffic comes from google and yahoo and msn stay the same, you'll be doing much better.

    Good Luck.

I have witnessed a huge decline, but rather than money per click, it has simply been a drastic drop in traffic.

I get the feeling people are searching for information on hurricanes much more than fantasy football recently.

I agree with you. I notice decline in profits since September month began...

This is very sad, but it becomes more apparent that Google wants to squeeze more $$$ through us. I am not sure what is Google up to, perhaps because they released another portion of their stock to the market recently and they need extra cash for their ambitious projects to acquire someone or buy an existing enterprise or anything like that. This is sad, but we have to pay for such projects by getting less profits from AdSense. In business world, it's called increasing marginal profits. I am dissappointed in Google.

@ Kasparoff: the same thing with me. Since mid August (coinciding with major Adwords changes the week of Aug15), I have noticed a huge decrease in CTR and CPC.

My CTR is down by 1.5%, and my CPC average is down by 40%. Earnings down by 40%.

Most of my traffic comes from G, with 15% coming from MSN and Y. My main site is PR5. I have made no changes to my site, or have noticed any decline in traffic. The traffic is of the same quality too. My site is optimized to the max. My SERPS is pretty much the same too...

So, all of this leads me to this speculation:

Since YPN is in beta in the USA, and MSN is around the corner, my guess would be that G has lowered the min click bid, just to put as large a dent in their competitors debut as possible, by getting as many advertisers as possible. And most of us publishers are paying the price. Although as publishers, we are getting less $ overall (on average), Google is still making more profit, as now they have more advertisers than ever. Against these sorts of speculations though, many people with suggest that what is happening to us is merely "Smart Pricing", something which I think is overrated.

I run adsense on a number of pages with differing content topics. Some go up, some go down. I continually ad topics and have a lot of recent content and can adjust keywords within topics that are performing poorly with keywords that are effective from related topics. For September my eCPM is up 10%. A lot of the change can be attributed to the new pricing on Adwords, I use Adwords and have seen some keywords go up on both the Adwords minimum bids and on Adsense eCPM.

I would assume that Google would value Adsense publishers as we are a source of traffic and income and we will be more in demand when Yahoo and MSN is competing for our traffic. There may be certain topic or types of publishers they are devaluing. They may want to make the $5 per day sites go away to the competition and lock in the publishers that make $XXX or more per day.

You would think that when the competition comes along, the other guy (Google) would work hard to make all there users like them and stay with them!!! Google should be trying to make all the Yahoo users dump Yahoo and come back to Google. Yes, my earnings crashed. It crashed right when my server crashed. So, yah, I'm to blame for every ones earnings crash!! :(:(

Well, its a bad thing to rely solely on Adsense earnings as it can fluctuate alot. Depending on your site it might be suitable to look into Casale, Fastclick or Tribalfusion to deliver some CPM banner ads.

I fed my Google Stats into excel and did a few evaluations:

Very interesting ist to do a moving 7 Day average Graph on the figures to smooth out fluctuations. I could clearly see:

    - Page impressions steadily went up from july to now ( I put in a lot of new content, almost 60 Percent more).
Number of Clicks / ctr decreased noticable fom September, 1st. on.
Slight and steady decrease in Earnings over this 3 month period, but with an upward trend for the last few days.

I hope that this upward trend continues. Otherwise it seems the work of the last two month did not pay off.
