Social bookmarketing was one of the "it" topics at the recent SMX show in Seattle. The concept is simply. You blog and post items with links to your site. The idea is this creates more inbound links into your site, thus getting direct traffic from folks who click on the link and increased link coverage thus increasing your seo metrics.

Of course, most blogs are being told to use the rel=nofollow and such not.

Only time will tell is Google and others start to give less weight to links in blogs since it's a "known" seo method that can be manipulated.

 

Socialbooking sites give you some good traffic, well some of them do anyway, which may in return get you some backlinks aswell. When it comes to getting backlinks from the actual socialbooking sites, some of them will do this and some will not as some of them us rel=nofollow so nothing gets passed on to your site.
