Hey sorry for this question but i have been wondering about this topic for a while =) What really gives a website value when you are trying to sell it?

I mean i just started my first real project and with about 30min a day it produces $50 in cpa leads..naturally i am still trying to tweak it a little and improve it lol. However already by now thinking of future projects i was wondering how i would really determin the value of my website if i decide to ever sell it in the future lol.

    Any good answers?

I don't know based off experience or anything but I would assume traffic is a big key to it's value..and possibly the brand (how well known it is etc).

traffic is a GOOD piece to the puzzle . . . but i would say MAIN thing if you wanna sell for big bucks you must provide PROOF OF REVENUE for AT LEAST the last 6 MONTHS hopefully a year, the longer the better !

other things that play a factor are :

    Revenue - obvious reasons

MASS LEGIT TRAFFIC - because even if you havent made money doesnt mean someone else cant

    The domain name itself

if you can brings those 3 things to the table then you MIGHT be able to sell for big bucks . . . remember . . .
The site can and will only sell for what YOU are willing to sell for AND the BUYER is willing to pay.

I would recomend search engine optimising your website to rank higher in search engines (particularly Google). If you have a really snazzy website, but no traffic and on page 23 in Google then you simply won't really make a noticeable profit.

I wouldn't bother with AdWords with Google as most people prefer to go for the actual results as they are considered more relevant to the search. I would also recomend 'Getting noticed on Google' by in easy steps which is a fantastic book for search engine optimisation.

Having a well constructed and attractive website also helps :)

    Hi all!

It really depends on what you're trying to do...if you just want to make a quick buck, Traffic and revenue are enough to sell it.

But...if you want to sell it for multiple earnings, you should have developped ASSETS (as it's what gives value to your business):
    - a list of qualified prospects AND buyers
    - Content
    - Systems and Automation Processes
    ...

Ultimately, a potential buyer is looking for proof of CONSTANT revenue and ease of use: if you can show it takes only a few hours to maintain the same amount of traffic and revenue, you'r on the right path and people will be ready to jump at your offer.

    Hope that helps.

Lol see this is why it makes me wonder :p I never submitted my website to google and see no reason to do so really =/ leads come from advertising campaigns so a catchy url isn't needed either lol.

depending on how much you plan to or hope to sell it for ($20 - $200), traffic to the site (ie. the links you have to it) is probably the biggest.

    But also, revenue, content, etc.
