I run 3 vbulletin forums and 1 SMF.

The SMF is going to be converted to VB in the next couple of months.

Yes, MYBB is different from phpbb.

I wonder how many people are switching since the recent attack on phpbb.com's website....

That attack had nothing to do with the phpBB software itself.

Not really. It's fixed now and all softwares have areas of attacks.

On the contrary, I'm with vBulletin and always have been.

what do you mean not really? at the time of that story, almost all the headlines said php boards hacked, or php board passwords compromised, etc etc.

regardless of the story, it easily could have scared people away from either using it, or continuing to use it.

I know. That's why I said their website, not the script...

This is what I meant :)

vbulletin for me. I recently converted it from SMF. So far I like it much better! But SMF will always be the best choice (in my opinion) for a free forum software. It's secure, simple and fast loading. Phpbb fans have obviously not done much research. I hate it

    Lol Ashley,

I hate phpbb too, and would have to agree with you on SMF being the better free script.

I've used VBulletin here this past year for all of my forums and just love it. But before I got into VB, I was using phpbb, SMF, and Snitz. And Snitz wasn't bad at all really if I had to chose between these three. The reason I switched over is because I got tired of coding and hiring people to code things I needed done in the forums. VB seems to have all I need, and most of the mods except for something like vBSEO are free.

    Can't beat that ...

    vBulletin forum owner here.

I tried a few of the other free ones but I could not get the results I wanted and moved to vBulletin.

Can't say enough about vBulletin and the mods available at vbulletin.org

There are so many mods that can do so much for your community.

Simply the best in my opinion.

    :)

I use vbulletin and mybb. Both are very good. VB a little better than mybb but mybb is free.

Been using PHPBB for about a year now. Going to be upgrading to vBulletin in a few days because PHPBB is having too many technical difficulties.
