What Forum keywords for search engines?

Lets say I have a forum about Oranges.

What keywords should I target for the search engines?

    Oranges forum
    Oranges community
    Oranges boards

    Something else?

I would like to submit my forum to a couple of directories but am not sure which keyword I should target, if any.

I would not target any of those. I would do keyword research on oranges and find the most searched for / least competitive and go after those. So it might have nothing to do with "discussion", but rather basic orange information.

People googling often want information anyways. So I totally agree with Lee. Information, discussion, forum and blog are keywords people don´t use too much.

I would also concantrate on the forum titles. Becuase i guess you should already have been selected most interesting keywords as forum titles (like blue orange, yellow orange, orangism).

Go to the website http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/. Here you can research what keywords people are searching for.

For example it states that 'Orange forum' has been searched for 31 times this month. This stat is for the overture network and doesn't include Google searches but it gives you a good idea.

Your keywords shall be "orange", "forum" is a too widely used word. But I think you shall put orange forum in the title, because you have tell people that your website is a forum.

Programs like MSN and sites like MySpace and are so commonplace that I would think the average person could figure out a forum.

    Hi,
Using the relevant keywords so that the search engine find it.Search terms are the words and phrases that people type into the search forms of search engines. Keywords and keyphrases are the words on your site that match these search terms.

    Thanks.

I will suggest : Orange Forum.
However, do research keywords. You may find most the keywords related to this subject having less competition. That also may help you.

whenever I search for a forum, I simply query "productname forum", I'd imagine most people do this.

Try using the Google Labs search engine. Type out different things and see how many results show up in the auto-fill dropdown.
