I would advise against CJ - they don't use cookies, so unless a visitor buys product immediately, you don't get a commission. Also, if your monthly payout is below their payable limit, they will charge you an "inactivity fee" - my friend's commissions were drained this way. There are some affiliate networks who's merchants use 30 day or even 90 day cookie - it takes some research, but they are out there.
Er....Not to be argumentative but most advertisers that I deal with has between 14 day and 60 day cookies so that if a customer orders within that time frame you do get paid for it. You can place ads on your site relevant to the content and can earn that way or you could use a ppc campaign to drive traffic.
