Noobish question I know, Sorry. I'm just not too sure on what PPC is 'Exactly' Do you pay or does the person your advertising for pay? E.G. I set up a PPC Banner going to a site, when someone clicks on that banner and goes to that site, would I pay or would the owner of the linked site pay me? How exactly does it work? Thanks for your patience, - Piro
From ur question the answer is the owner of the site linked that will pay you. Not you pay the owner More about PPC (pay-per-click) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay_per_click Adsense is one of the sample of PPC ads.
You Pay Google -> Google Pays Advertisers when someone Clicks on one of your ads on their site Adwords does this too: You Pay Google -> Google Places Ads on Google Search Results (Right side when you search) based on the keywords of your choosing. You pay for each click on your ad.
Usually when you see the term PPC people are reffering to Google Adwords. For example: Whenever you google something you get 2 types of results. You get the "organic" results which are the main horizontal listings that come up in the main body of your screen. On the very right hand side of the screen you'll see a vertical column of what looks like classified ads. This is google adwords. The people who own these ads PAY to be there. They pay for every click that each ad receives hence the term PPC. To get a better idea of this google something and study the results that come up. Pay particular attention to the column of adds on the right.
If you're using PPC to advertise your sites for more targeted traffic, there are other, cheaper options than Google Adwords: Bidvertizer, 7 search, Adbrite. Check out the site: www.payperclicksearchengines.com. Bidvertiser is a really good one because they place your ad on content sites rather than the search engines, and they're easier to use than Google and Yahoo. You'll see ads in blogs and websites like About.com, etc. If you're starting out, rather than competing with the millions of people trying to get on the front page of Google--one lousy page--with 29 competing search results, you could be on a site related to your product and compete with only 2 or 3 other ads on 50 different sites for the same amount of money. You're simply not going to compete the with the guy who outbids you on Google. There's so much emphasis on SEO and page ranking that people forget that in order to make money, you have to make a sale. So keep it simple...and cheap.
its something that you really want to get to know well before trying to do becuase it can end up wasting lots of money so make sure you know what the idea for the campaign is do your research.
