I have seen the Term "Article Spinning" and wanted to know how it helps with SEO? I have seen a bunch of people on UpHype.com offering this service and want to know if it's worth doing? Cheers!
Article spinning is basically taking an existing article and modifying it by replacing words by synonyms and sometimes rewriting complete phrases, so that the article, saying basically the same thing, looks like a totally different article. That is, you put a "spin" on it. Other say that your "rehash" it. I don't think that it helps much from the point of view of SEO, except that you can replace your keywords by other ones. The basic interest of article spinning is that you can submit your article to multiple article sites which insist on "unique content". There are people out there which spin old articles and publish them on their own websites, so as to avoid "duplicate content", but I'd would not go so far as to rehash the content of my own site... better write fresh one.
It's essentially re-writing an existing article to manipulate the search rankings. It's a waste of time, as it will rarely rank well against the original. It can also be processed through an automated application which replaces a few words in each sentence with a synonym. If you want to perform well in SEO, create your own, original content. Don't spin an article. Research it and offer something unique and appealing to your visitors, which search engines will also love.
The term article spinning is generally associated with taking a well written, useful article, and turning it into completely useless, un-readable junk for the sole purpose of having 'unique' content to place on a website or article directory. Since search Google has begun to place a greater emphasis on sites having 'unique' content in their ranking algorithmic, 'spinning' articles programatically has become a popular 'shortcut; for people to be able to take an article and create 100's of 'unique' articles from this one article.

A spinned article is basically an article in which you have modified the majority of your words with their synonyms. For example if you have a phrase that says "Discover How I watch tv on pc everyday for free" a spinned variation of this sentence will be [Discover|Learn|Find Out]how I watch tv on [pc|computer|laptop] [everyday|each day] for free, so each time you submit this article to different sites there will be "Learn how i watch tv on computer each day" or "Find out how i watch tv on pc everyday for free" ...etc. You get the point here. This will make your article unique in Google eyes and in case you use the article for seo purposes this will also give you a chance to dominate multiple SERPS in google if your article is available on multiple sites.
I think it still work with SEO because you already spin the article a little different but maybe it is not good for your website because nothing fresh and special in your website.
Article spinning is effective when done using varied ways.. spinning synonyms, paragraphs are just the basics.. Even title and resource box should be heavily spinned to make them effective.. just an example of spinning we do in my article spinning and submission service: The spinning is done in multiple ways to get the best results. First we write three versions of article, rewritten manually.. then divide the article in say 6 paragraphs, these paragraphs are interchanged to get around 729 combinations, we can do more using more paragraphs. The second part involves using every possible synonyms for every possible dictionary word. The third part involves using the combination of these spinnable words in their own unique versions. So you get all articles with 75-99.99% uniqueness in all 1000 spin versions of articles. Moreover even titles and resource boxes are used with unique combination and spinning, so what you really get is 1000 articles which appear highly unique and theres no way Google or anyone can detect it.
article spinning is rewritting your content using a tool or software personally, i dont use article spinning..the results and thoughts of each line isnt constructed and well lets say dont really sound like a quality article.. if you do use it, make sure you check the output well..
