It's like a popup, but it appears under the current window, so that when you close.. It's there and you dont 'know' which site is advertising.

Yeah, that's how it normally works. Forums don't work well with popunders though, users get annoyed and stop posting.

    agreeed, really wouldnt do that.

and if your doing it to try and make some money, dont bother, most popup blockers block them since then work the same as a popup.

You can fix popunders to only show up once every few clicks, or once or twice per user visit. It doesnt have to be one per click at all.

Be careful of putting popunders in your site. Lot of places ban websites which have popunders. Also if you have signed up with an web marketing firm which uses popunders to get you hits, please note that most of the times you will just lose your money. They will show you plenty of hits on your website but you will have no quality leads.

Yeah i heard of the same as well. Also google adsense impressions are not counted if your site comes up as a popunder. Its a total waste of money if you get traffic via popunders and ofcourse most users do find them very annoying and would lead to loss of credibility of the website.

exactly, its the hits that will count, if people are annoyed by a certain thing they will gradually move off to some other similar website as the one with the popunders.

The Google TOS states that the popups not allowed are ones "that interfere with site navigation, change user preferences, or initiate downloads"

Instead of using pop unders you might consider AdBrite's interstitial product. For publishers, it generally pays better than a pop under and for advertisers it provides a better user experience which helps in delivering an effective method.

How much do adbrite interstitials pay and are they the best paying interstitials? I seem to get more revenue from adversal popunders than adbrite banners + interstitials on my proxy, by far.
