    First define backlinks :)
    Backlink is an inbound link which means a link from external webpage to your webpage.

    Google Backlinks: This is sample of backlinks which google shows for your website for example here.

    That is a cool trick with putting 'link: <url> ' in a google search, never realized it was that simple! (yeah yeah, I'm a noob.. sue me!)

    Don't use the space between the url and the link:

    It gives different results.

    ...and bare in mind that Google will only ever show you a small subset of backlinks, which are updated every few months. Yahoo and MSN are generally better for this...

    I have 0 google backlinks but 155 from yahoo
    the website is in both yahoo and google
    it s pretty new, about a month ago

    all of them are from a forum, is it possible google doesnt count the backlinks from forums signature or it s because the site is pretty new ?
