Stupid question this but what exactly is a blog? Alot of sites these days have a blog (mine included - or is it?) Does a blog have to be registered somewhere, have special tags or... Thanks
A blog is almost the same thing with a regular web site. The difference is that the blog (web log) is updated frequently with (mostly) news, and it uses syndication technologies (rss, xml, ping, etc)
Thanks Nikolas. So is mine a proper blog? Do I need to use these syndication technologies to make it a proper blog?
Blog is Journal in general; but in nowadays we have some extra technologies that have so called distributional functions built in (rss, xml); thats it; Content flexible system, so to speak.
I read in some tech news site. A blog is just a website! The word blog got it from "web logs" where you can log what's happening daily on the net.
Here is a definition of a blog: http://www.marketingterms.com/dictionary/blog/ But blogs are not only personal these days. They have evolved into the political sphere and many of the best examples of blogs can be found in the political realm. Still, the blog is not done evolving. "Vlogs" or "Video Blogs" represent the next evolution in blogging.
Thanks guys for the responses - proves I know nothing Is my blog (ok it's not - should I change it?) worthy of becoming a blog then? Is this the sort of stuff that should be called a blog?
Full site usualy has forums, running all kinds of scripts, mailing lists, subscriptions, payment processing, but regular blogs are just like different kind of journals or forums.
A blog is your easy-to-use web site, where you can quickly post thoughts, interact with people, and more. All for FREE. A definition from blogger.com
