It's a link that is on the whole site.... therefore you have a backlinks on every single page of the website... if the site has 5 pages, you have 5 backlinks... if it has 30 pages, 30 backlinks.... 150 pages.... 150 backlinks.

getting sitewide links is a good link building tip and technique

Exactly that! The link is sitewide on the site (every page)

If you get a link within site navigation and that navigations goes along with whole sites, your link will also go with whole site. It means if you get a link within navigation and that site have 300 index pages then you will get a link 300 back links from one link which is in site navigation.

Number 1 sample for site wide link is a link in a blog. If your link was in link widget then it's site wide link. Your site is linked to every page within the site.

If you have a sitewide link from other sites to your blog then you will get backlinks from all the pages of that site.If that site has 100 pages then you will be having 100 backlinks from that site.

Yes, that is one example. Another one is a link in footer.
