What exactly do I need to do?

My website is a freebie blog. I try to build backlinks using the anchor text 'freebies' or 'free stuff'. Also, I try to put my keywords in my blog posts. I am an avid user on about 5 forums and I put my website in the signature but that hasn't really helped.

    My site: http://www.freebie-link.com/

However, I cannot even crack the rankings in the top 100 for ANY of my targeted keywords on Google. This may be a competitive niche, but I'm seeing absolutely no results!

Also, my traffic has barely increased since I started the site around a year ago (I've owned the domain since 2007). I'm only averaging around 200 pageviews a day, with around 60 being unique visitors.

I almost have 500 FB fans on my page and over 1000 twitter followers, but I still cannot get any traffic!

What are clear-cut steps that I can take that WILL improve my rankings and/or traffic? Should I change my post titles? Anything that you think will help me out, please post it!

    Thanks for your help.

"free stuff" is going to be hard to rank for, competition is high. try a few long tail keywords. Depending on how you built the twitter followers, you could try and utilize them, but unless you spent some time and actually built up the followers yourself with relevant tweets and targeting followers that are interested in the niche then it won't help you much. I would try and use the FB fans more and target long tail keywords.

    Hi,
First of all those two keywords a super competitive. You won't be ranking for those anytime soon as they have
thousands of back links in the top spots. You are in an extremely competitive niche.

You also need to find other keywords you can rank for...

You will have to focus on other means of driving traffic such as article marketing, creating videos, and
web 2.0 properties. Using Twitter and Facebook are good measures just make sure you are active
in those accounts and create relationships.

    Best Wishes

Your traffic is not bad, but you'll have to do more stuff to get more visitors. Pay attention to the Google trends section on Google. Start new posts on hot trends of the day. You might consider trying a PPC ad if you can afford to do it.

Yeah, those two keywords are very competitive. I would try variations on those. Also be sure to obtain as many of your competitor's backlinks as possible. And I agree if you can afford it and want to boost traffic then a PPC might be useful.

You got a very nice looking site and you offer some great free products, but I think you need to look into Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI). Basically, what that means is you need to have LSI keywords spread throughout your webpage. They way to do this is to do a keyword search of your main keyword. When you get the results they are listed in order of relevance according to Google.

The keywords underneath your main keyword are your LSI keywords. For example I did a Google search on "how to get freebies" there are 1600 Global Monthly Searches for that keyword phrase. Some of the LSI keywords are get free stuff, free bady samples canada only, free samples of stuff, how to get free baby samples, and so on. You could take one of the LSI phrases and use it as your main keyword. Try to find longtail keywords related to free stuff.

I got several websites and blog up and running and many are in high competive niches, but I still have lots of pages ranking on the first page of Google. It's all about good keyword research and knowing how to properly optimize your site and understanding how to get backlinks.

You can create better ranking when you have more pages and articles out there online. Try to create an email list or backlink to help you with your site if you don't already have one.

Try long-tailed keyword, or any obscure but related keywords you can think of.

But for me, I'd think finding some consumer-related forums and make a post there regularly with your signature pointing to your site may works well.
And if you site offers are really worked then words will spread and more people will some.

I agree with what this guy said. Find some lower competition phrases by thinking "outside the box".

    Things you need to do:

Step 1) Do keyword research - Like what many had said. Look for long tail keywords (3 -4 word phrase) Use a keyword tool to determine the traffic and competition. Try 'Traffic Travis' its free. Target at keywords that are about 1-2000 searches every month. Get about 30 of these keywords.

Step 2) Write an article for each of the kw and post them up to your blog. Then rewrite another to submit to Ezinearticle with one anchor link pointing back to your main site and other to your post. Spin the article and submit to Goarticle after Ezinearticle approves.

Step 3) Build about 10-20 quality backlinks like .edu to each post. Set up Hubpages and Tumblr and post the spun article, do the same with the anchor text.

Step 4) Send the spun articles to blog networks like UAW, MMA, FTS, etc,

Disclaimer* Not all keyword, url, niche are born equal. So results might varies.
