These are by no means in order of importance. 1. Create and increase backlinks (the higher the pagerank the better) ensure they are related to your website. Ways you can increase backlinks are through -forum signatures -blog posting on relevant blogs but dont go spamming the blogs, add quality content, or at least praise them on their article, -blog carnivals again related to your website, -article submissions (Ezine articles) -Website submission (Get your pages indexed) create a sitemap to speed up this process. 2. HTML web design - Ensure the website meets W3C markup validation service - Makes the site easier to crawl -Search engine friendly -User friendly 6. It seems that, no matter how much work you put into a site, or how many people you pay to write content for you.........it still seems like a site, no matter how good, really needs at least 3-6 months to start to gain placement........is this true? Could you actually start a website, and get high rankings within the first week?
Thats a very variable question (hope people understand) it depends on the niche your website is in whether its a competitve niche and therefore you have competitive words you are trying to rank for or whether the niche is new something you yourself are creating, or whether its just a low competing niche. The keywords you are targeting are they competitive or not, i would say that the keyword "SEO" would not be possible to gain a page 1 place, in 3 months (i maybe wrong) if the site was brand new. However for a different keyword perhaps "yellow laced rollerblades" its more than likely possible. Will.
im trying to make it to the first page for "free movies" i have around 5 solid back links from simillar sites for those keywords and also about 649 in total Internal links. I do have good keywords and phrases etc. i also do have good title tags and meta, anything else is good, what about social bookmarking? and what else is there for me to do? Thanks, SP360
You're going to need a lot more than 5 links to made it to the front page. Have a look at a site that IS making it to the front page for the keywords you want and use either yahoo or a linkcounter to see how many backlinks they have. A quick look suggests to me that watch-movies.net has 579000 backlinks recognised by Google....

@SP360 : I think if you are going to target "FREE Movies" so it will take some time But try to use benifits of your internal pages like first you can put the quality content with targeted keywords in internal pages and use anchor text with proper keyword links in your pages. write and design your pages some thing interesting for visitors, there is good chances to get lots of quality hits on your site. double check always your complete on page optimization of all the internal pages like Title. Meta tag, H1, H2, html codes etc.. try to get the more quality links from related category , make the Word press Blogs with interesting content + Interesting picture for your site and optimize properly, it will send you more help to bring the traffic on your site. or it will take more time to achieve target in Free movies category. also look in other off page techniques work to make the famous more site in targeted country after that you will get lots of quality hits.
