Hi, just got this client http://www.beverlyhilton.com/ They want us to work on the Internet Marketing strategy. PPC and so on. I was thinking if we could suggest some SEO to be done on the site. But it seems that this site already ranks high in google for "beverly hills hotel" Currently #3 Please adivice what else could be done to this site from SEO point of view. I think the only thing i found is i could change the urls from http://www.beverlyhilton.com/news_and_media_center/news_and_media_center.cfm to http://www.beverlyhilton.com/news-and-media-center/news-and-media-center.cfm What else? Code clean up? As i see the code is kinda dirty, i could probobly place java script and some of the left over CSS into external files. Anything else? I believe they used some other company who SEOed this site.
Check the titles for pages that have real value on this site (in the bottom menu), I see not all of them are unique. Also you may add description tags, didn't see it. Yes, code clean up and if possible not harming it and in the same time have it w3c validated. I see 138 backlinks in Google, and #3 position and #1 and #2 probably can't be achieved by this keywords, you may do additional keyword research and bring them postions for other related keywords. You need to ask them reports from previous seo firm (if they have any). That will tell you a lot. Hope that helps.
If you optimize the home page for "beverly hills hotel" then you might be able to steal the #1 spot on google. Change the title tag to match the keyword. And add a meta description, plus take the part at the bottom that says "©2006 The Beverly Hilton" and change it to "©2006 The Beverly Hills Hilton" then make "Beverly Hills Hilton" a link that points straight to the home page not the index file. Remember always point at least 1 link with your keywords from every page back to the main page of the site. If you do this you will see better results.
banless, did you see which sites are in top 2 for that keyword and how google treat them ? I have worked with great patent site with 5,500,000 unique content pages indexed in google and can't move higher than #5 for related keywords, Google just have similar treatments for sites above me like in this example. However if you have such experience how to outbeat them please let me know in PM.
why you want to change URL?? URL has very little impact on the ranking(maybe a little more on MSN). Believe me, it is not worth changing
I'd also look at trying to capture ranking on other terms, like "hotel" in general, geo for surrounding areas, local, luxury key phrase combos, spa's, dining, shopping, etc. what else do they offer? On overture, (28% of traffic) last month: 21527 searches for "los angeles hotel" Just some ideas without even looking at the site... Good luck!
yes it will make keywords more visiable, see code is valied, if any images add alt, maintain good anchor text even when u put in other sites like dp hahahaaa
