i think you need to make the question a little bit more specific. do you want a $300 pair of headphones, or a $50 pair? do you want huge ones, or do you want small ear buds? if you want to attract a lot of attention to yourself, you'll get the huge ones
I've got some old Shure E2cs. They're uncomfortable, way too expensive for what they are, but they sound brilliant. But that kinda defeats the purpose if they're too uncomfy to wear for longer than 30 mins. I've also got some **cough** "Sennheiser" CX300s from eBay (fakes at AUD $20), they sound practically as good as the Shures, but are comfy, and way easier to pack. At home, I'm currently using Technics RP-DJ1200s, and they're 90% as good as the Sony MDR series I've had in the past - but unlike the Sonys, they actually last longer than a year. They're also borderline small enough to wear outside without looking like an idiot. ---- Try some of the fake Sennheisers from eBay, they're surprisingly good for the money. And it's no big deal if you break them, or blow them up..
I've got a few pairs of Apple/$1.99 earphones that I use for listening to podcasts/falling asleep with (they end up getting wrapped around me neck and trashed). I actually quite like ultra cheap earphones for listening to voice podcasts because they generally have no bass, and every year I drop a handful of top end Hz from my audible range, so I can crank them up without the sound getting too muddy
