    If I was targeting a UK audience I'd also get the co.uk version

    Depends on your intended market. If your primary / only intended market is the UK, then you would need to develop the .co.uk but buy the .com as well since people would also type in "mywidgets.com" expecting to get to your site.

    In order of preference generally:
    1. mywidgets.com
    2. my-widgets.com
    3. mywidgets.net

    In order of preference for UK market:
    1. mywidgets.co.uk
    2. mywidgets.com

    As stuw said, if you can, buy the others to prevent piggy-backers and spoilers.

    Definately mywidgets.com, with mywidgets.co.uk the second most preferred (assuming your target market is the UK). With domain names being so cheap these days, it might be a good idea to register all five and 301 redirect the lesser four to your main domain.

    I'd go for the mywidgets.com (.co.uk if targetting UK).

    As for using a hyphen in a domain. I personally tend to forget it the first few times I visits.

    It depends on many factors so a straightforward answer can only be that mywidgets.com comes top of the list.

    Last of the list would be mywidgets.info, but only for the time being, it might be better than the .net version soon.

    But of course there are many factors that I can't be aware of.
