Although I haven't reached the magic 50 post mark yet I was reading through the Adsense details and it says you've got a 50% chance of getting the 'hit' if someone views a thread you've started - or if it's viewed by post. Viewing by thread I understand, that's the default way. But how can you view 'by post'?
I'd say it would be if someone searches your previous posts and clicks on one or another similar scenario.
Posts each have a permalink (top right where the post number is) - if someone views your post by permalink your ads will be displayed 50% of the time.
Thanks for the replies. But why bother clicking on the link when you can see the post already? Am I missing something?
If it's a particularly long and informative post, like that at the top of a sticky thread, some people will just link to the post instead of the thread. Personal preference I guess.
it's also used a lot in the forums to show posts, as it saves people have to scroll through 20 posts in a thread to see the one you wanted to point out.
