    hi ginnis,

The Sandbox (the Google penalty) is a name given to an observation about the way Google ranks web pages in its index. According to the sandbox effect, Google temporarily reduces the page rank of new domains, placing them into what is referred to as its "sandbox", in an effort to counter the ways that search engine optimizers attempt to manipulate Google's page ranking by creating lots of inbound links to a new web site from other web sites that they own.

Well done Arya, you can copy & paste from Wikipedia!!

The sandbox effect is when a new webpage (or a webpage that has recently began optimising) ranks well for a particular keyphrase and then suddenly drops way down the rankings for sometimes months at a time. It's worth noting that it is not a sitewide filter (therefore your "site" cannot be sandboxed).

It takes effect to varying degrees in varying industries (the effect is stronger in more competitive - read, spammed - industries).

I've written a checklist to see whether you're in the sandbox or whether you just rank poorly.

How we can identify our website, if it’s in google sandbox? Please let me know the way we find out whether it’s in sandbox or not. I’m trying to find the answer from wiki but I don’t understand exactly as I’m fresher in SEO industry.

The Google Sandbox is an “alleged restriction” placed on any new website or a blog. Sandbox is there for new sites and no site could avoid such a period. Even if you have good content and many inbound links, your new website may still be sandboxed. Google just want to discourage spam sites from risising too quickly, getting banned, and going through the process all over again. But, I think building backlinks from those niche relative and authority sites would be really helpful for shortening such period.

If your site does not getting index by the Google spider it does mean that it is under sandbox.
