While trying to send a payment through paypal by using credit card
as a funding source i got this message

this payment cannot be funded with a credit card at this time

This payment cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later.

The thing is I got sufficient credit balance to cover this payment

Can anybody throw some light on this?

    Thanks
    chenzen.

The person you're sending to probably has a "Personal" account.

Personal accounts can only accept a very limited number of payments that are funded via credit card every year. They can always accept payments funded from a bank account balance (such as a checking account) or from a PayPal balance.

People with Premier or Business accounts can accept credit card payments anytime.

    cheers ~

Actually, it does not matter if the other person has a personal account, they can receive up to 5 credit card transactions a year and after which each time they get a credit card payment, the money would be on hold and they would be prompted to upgrade to a premier or business account.

I believe that what happens is that the Paypal bank's gateway is down for online credit card processing and thus they ask you to try again later.

Well, yeah, it could be that the system is down. But then wouldn't they just get an error saying that the system is down rather than a bit about payments funded by credit card?

    best,
