What does the future hold for Incentive Affiliate Programs?

I am about to start work on a point based Gift site which deviates from the current batch of GPT incentive site scripts.

I am building this from the ground up so before I invest a lot of time in this I have decided to do a lot of research. I have found a lot of old blog posts that mention a lot of Affiliate Programs are not allowing incentive sites anymore.

Most said that it was due to massive amounts of fraud and poor lead quality.

Now most of these posts were over a year old, and still I see huge amounts of affiliate programs that allow incentive sites. Which would suggest to me that the Advertisers that were going to jump ship already have done and the rest are in for the long run.

What are everyone elses feelings regarding this? If I am going to build my own site I want to be in for the long run, otherwise I'll just grab a script (that won't exactly do what I need) and try to make a quick buck.

    All opinions welcome...

Fraud and everything is at the same levels or higher than it was a couple years ago.

You'll find more advertisers for points and free gift sites than cash incent.

    Thanks for the info.

saahil: do you run any incentive sites? If so do you use telephone verification? While a good idea and I will most probably use it, it seems really only a small deterrent. I could see it being more useful if they did a reverse lookup and compared the address for the phone to the address given in the signup page.

I guess since there are so many other sites that don't use it the fraudsters will stick with the easiest targets.

I run an incentive site and offer both cash/points and it's going well.

You can't avoid fraud no matter what you do...I keep a close eye on my site and members. I work closely with my account managers and so far, everything is going well.

I have had to remove some members from fraud but none of them have contacted me on why their account was deleted, which to me means they know why.

There are limited offers for incentive sites, but I am a member of several. The links are below and I have labeled ones that have paid me.

No matter where there is money or free stuff involved, then there is likely to be fraud. Fraud is an issue and will most probably always be some sort of issue with the incentive industry, so I guess it will change with the times. Hopefully it will not be wiped out because of fraudsters. I think they will find better ways of dealing with fraud though so that incentive offers will still work for the advertisers or some of them anyway.

I think the future for incentive affiliate programs is solid, the outlook is good. Yes, with technology and the proliferation of get paid to and freebie sites, the occurance of fraud has increased. However, technology has also given birth to countermeasures. I see many many successful Get Paid To (GPT) sites like Deal Barbie Pays, Cash Lagoon, etc. that haven't been crippled by fraud but have thrived in the face of it. Implement countermeasures; require phone verification, track IPs, prevent multiple accounts, etc. Don't worry about fraud. It's an issue but one to be considered as a challange or hurdle and not a blockade.

Ultimately, the industry is thriving and will continue to survive because while fraud exists, so do the loyal members. Those who build referral empires do not live in castles of sand and the merits of the industry will continue to inspire and move the masses for years to come. Best of luck to you and feel free to ask for advice anytime. Best wishes.

We recently started accepting new incent. publishers. Only certain advertisers are willing to accept incent. traffic.

Incentive traffic will go away, but not any time soon. I run 23 GPT sites and all are doing pretty good. Some tips to remember - your affiliates and sponsors pay the bills and are just as important as the members. You have to do everything you can to prevent fraud. We have a zero tolerance policy that is outlined in our TOS. If a member doesn't follow it, they're banned. The thing to attract members is the payouts and testimonials. They gotta see it to believe it. If you have any more questions, PM me any time.
