What does "site wide link" mean?

    I'm a dummy and I have no idea what site wide link means, but everyone here keeps telling me how it's something tha'ts a very bad idea. What is it!

    It refers to the links which are visible across all pages on the site, not restricted to any particular page.

    thanks buddy! what would be an example? Like, are links in signatures in a forum considered this? Or is it like, links at the side of a blog that link to other people's things

    Forum sigs aren't considered as site-wide links because they are only appearing on your posts, not the whole site..

    Examples of site-wide links are like as you said maybe links to other sites in a Sidebar if they appear on every page (unless sidebar is dynamic), or more commonly footer links.

    Blogroll links would be sitewides, footer links would be sitewides, etc.
