What does "seen" timestamp in FB messenger app ?

    I met a girl yesterday at an event and she accepted my friend request today. I messaged her on Fb. I messaged her some time ago (say 3 hrs ago). I didn't get a reply, so I thought she might not have been online.

    But when I checked the mobile FB messenger app, it showed "1h" besides her name. But under my message, there was no "seen at ..." time stamp as it is normally when somebody reads my message.

    I'm confused here. If she has been online 1 hour ago and has not replied to my message, then why doesn't it show "seen" under my message ? Or has my message gone to her "others" folder or something ? How can I confirm this ?

    probably your message went to the "other folder" and she did not notice your message.

    It will change to "seen" only after that particular message has been opened by receiver. Like you go to FB but don't open your messages. So, you are online but still didn't read the messages.

    Maybe she went online but has not read or opened your message.
