What does "scraping high pr directories to submit to" mean?

I recently read where a IM'er stated they were:

"I'm regularly scraping high pr directories to submit to- I think the count is up to like 7500 or so."

How many per day or week do you submit?

"I submit as many as possible- I'll keep doing it this way unless it affects my ranking- if it ever does, I can just drip feed them instead."

Whats it mean to scrape high pr directories? How do I search for them? Then what?

Probably basic stuff here. Please explain.

    Thanks

Scrapping high pr directories just means looking for and finding high pr directories to add to their list.

They use this list of directories to submit links for their content.

In order to do this you need to install a tool like Seoquake that shows you the pr of page in the natural search results.

this way you can do specific searches for certain types of directories, or directories in different niches and add them to their list.

Scraping is just another term for "searching for" but generally people use a tool to handle it. Most people that are scraping generally use Scrapebox (That's what the SB in my signature is short for).

PR is the pagerank of a site, and the higher the PR of a site, the better the backlink to your page is going to be.

An example of how this would work: people would scrape a bunch of article directories, then run all of these article directories through the PR checker in SB. You then post your articles to these directories, and in your articles you have a link to your site.

    I hope this makes sense!

To scrape pr directories means to search for pr directories though this is normally automated using software tools. Page rank is important since the higher the pagerank of a page the more "voting power" that page has in the eyes of the search engines particulary Google to vouch for the page it is linking to.

The purpose of this approach is to find high pr directory from which they can post their articles to get backlinks to their sites or pages.

This can be a great way to get backlinks, just know that some directories will take a while to apply to (a number of fields to fill out), and some of the very busy ones can take weeks to get approved!
