It's the number of pages that Google knows about within your URL. For example www.digitalpoint.com would be the number of pages in that site that Google knows about.

It's only updated when back links show a new figure.

So if my link is in my sig, wouldn't my back links constantly change? Or don't those count. Either way, I should have more back links now. I've submitted the site into directories and such.

It only reports what Google reports with the link: operator.

so after all of that, the pages in url means that is the number of pages Google has indexed fm the site?

I have a site that for some reason only has 1 page in url, while other sites I do have all (ro near all) of them indexed. Anyone help out?

If it helps, the url is free-flooring.com

ahhhhh.... now it shows 0 pages in URL - does that mean the site is not indexed or dropped form the indexed? It still shows a Pagerank of 5 so I'm guessing the site cannot be banned... any help?
