I am not asking this is the sense of an explantion of PageRank, but what does having high PageRank do , for YOU, personally?

Is it a feeling of a job well done? Does it make you money? Do you think it brings in better ads?

What does it do for YOU?

Better PageRank means a higher fee for each ad/link on my sites. How shallow can you get?!

for me i think it will bring more traffic from better rankings, also it is another area that i can set small goals in and work to accomplish.

There is a great sense of pride for me to set a goal and achieve it!

No effect on traffic, yet higher ad fees if you are in this business.

I do it for fun. Not wasting much time on PR but feel like it's something to look at when I get bored. Sometimes, when visiting a website, PR captures my attention and my interest in the website grows. That if we're talking about webmaster related websites.

    With the passage of time 'value' of PR are being diluted. Now its just like show piece. But in past it was considered something very reliable figure. Though now PR5+ considered as reliable too but you need to look deeply about the quality of that PR {.e.g quality of PR7}

    Lol --Mate

I am surprised you have this thread here:D It seems you don't believe what I said.

Well --higher PR will get you more repeated visitors --will get your site more quality contents ( in your case - I am referring to SYE):D

And as there is no time now--we will work for the August update. I am also holding back one of my sites --and I have another friend's site. So after the update --big job at hand --getting 3 sites PR5:D

You probably meant the other way round :)

It doesn't mean what it used to, at all. The relationship between PR and actual traffic is very tenuous, and as the net has become busier, so PR has become more diluted. So in some cases you see sites losing PR but gaining more visitors. I've experienced that on some sites.

That could either be absolutely fine or hurt a project. If you are concentrated on driving more traffic to your site then a traffic increase is all you should be watching. At the same time, link sellers seem to not care much about real traffic to their sites as a matter of fact.

So at the end of the day, it depends on what you are up to and how PR can serve your business plan.

To me personally, PR is a minor issue, but not a meaningless one. The one thing it tells me directly is: How am I doing on my link-building efforts?

To the visitors to my website, though, a good PR will mean nothing to some. But to others it will imply to them (right or wrong) that it is a high quality, trustworthy website. It may or may not be that, but some non-tech-savvy web surfers seem to think that higher PR is an indicator of higher quality. I will happily allow them that opinion if it keeps them at the website.:)

I don't think the page rank is even accurate, muy one old site, that I never update has a page rank of 4 - but the ones I update are between 0 and 2 - so I must not understand it I guess

So, I guess for me personally, it makes me feel ashamed and sad that my pages are not liked by the Google God, which of course means even if I build it they will not come:(
