When a search engine spider comes to a page with links on it, the standard response is to index the page and then follow all the links on the page. That is when the search engine looks at the links to see which ones you have “voted” for by putting them on your page. When the search engine spider sees nofollow on the link, it does the following:

    1. Does not follow the link to the new site
    2. Does not count the link towards it’s popularity score in their ranking engine
    3. Does not include the link text in the relevancy score for those keywords
Hope it is clear to you now?

@freelancedezinerWhich means a nofollow function depends on the website you are leaving your link?

There are different links that can help boost your website’s performance such as the “do not follow links” and the “no follow links.” If you want to bring your website to the top of the page rank views with quality keywords, top quality backlinks, or nofollow links are still the best way to go.
The no follow link simply means that search engines are not giving enough weight to that link. This kind of link was invented for the purpose of cutting down the use of spam links. It is advisable then that you understand no follow links in order for you to build your own website strategy while at the same time benefiting from it.

    Read this .

    [h=2]Paid links[/h]
Google and most other search engines use links to determine reputation. A site's ranking in Google search results is partly based on analysis of those sites that link to it. Link-based analysis is an extremely useful way of measuring a site's value, and has greatly improved the quality of web search. Both the quantity and, more importantly, the quality of links count towards this rating.
However, some SEOs and webmasters engage in the practice of buying and selling links that pass PageRank, disregarding the quality of the links, the sources, and the long-term impact it will have on their sites. Buying or selling links that pass PageRank is in violation of Google's Webmaster Guidelines and can negatively impact a site's ranking in search results.

Not all paid links violate our guidelines. Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as such. This can be done in several ways, such as:

Hope it makes sense why no-follow is implemented. Now once you understand no-folllow you will get the idea of d-follow yourself.
PS: It's just for google, yahoo and others does not count this tag

There is small but main difference between from nofollow and dofolow back links, from nofollow you will get traffic but from dofollow you can get back link , traffic, page rank and organic visitor from search engines.

If you are looking to use the links that you mentioned previously in this post for the purpose of Search Engine Optimisation, then a NoFollow link is not really of much use to use. As other members of DP have mentioned, Google and other search engines tend not to give any "weight" to a NoFollow link; which will mean that the link is worthless in regards to SEO but if the NoFollow link is placed on a high traffic website, then it could have good effects in regards to the amount of website traffic that you will get.The best way to deal with a NoFollow link is to have it placed on a "prime" area of a high traffic website page; and keep it related to that website that it is placed on because if the mentioned website link is relevant, then you should have a reasonable increase in website traffic.Best Regards,Michael James SwanSharpHost UK

nofollow = google's spider ignore the links and dont move on to the next site
dofollow = google's spider does not ignore the links and move on to the next site

that is all the big story.
    have a good day.
